    General Summary

    The Transfer Station Operator performs a variety of routine unskilled and semi-skilled duties involving
    proper operation of the equipment at the Transfer Station.
     
     

    Minimum Qualifications

    A candidate for this position should have High School diploma or GED, at least 3 years of experience
    working in a field related to waste management, OR equivalent combination of education and experience
    which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities of the position. Must obtain a New Hampshire Solid Waste Operator Processed Applicant Certification within 30 days of appointment.
    Additionally must obtain a State of New Hampshire Weigh Master License within six (6) months of
    appointment.
     

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities - A Transfer Station Operator must possess knowledge of the safety practices and procedures applicable to
    work; ability to understand and follow instructions; ability to perform duties while maintaining good public
    relations with other employees and the general public; ability to keep complete records. Also, must be
    familiar with and capable of performing duties of other Transfer Station positions.
     

    Physical Requirements

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to
    successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable

    Employee spends the majority of the day standing/walking, operating equipment, reaching, bending, and
    twisting. Frequently lifts, carries and/or moves objects weighing up to 75 pounds. Manually operates all
    department vehicles, tools, and equipment.
    Majority of work is performed in and around the Transfer Station with exposure to outside weather; noise;
    moving vehicles; mechanical and electrical hazards; fumes, odors and airborne particles; toxic substances
    such as chemicals. Stands and/or moves around for long periods of time on concrete floor that can be
    slippery.
