Hampton Beach Seafood Festival

Gearing up for the 2007 Hampton Beach Seafood Festival are (from left): Katie Curran, Seafood Festival Volunteer Chairwoman; Jude David, Seafood Festival Chairwoman; Ginni McNamara, Seafood Festival Administrator; and Kay Watkins, Ashworth by the Sea Banquet Manager.

Ever think of what it takes to make one of the "Top 100 Events in North America" work? VOLUNTEERS! Hundreds of them.

Even though it's springtime, many Hampton area residents are already lining up to get their assignments for this 3 day extravaganza - Friday, Saturday & Sunday, September 7, 8 & 9 - many, many more are needed, and you too can become a volunteer. It's a fun place to meet new people, re-acquaint with old friends and take pride in showing off Hampton Beach. Some of the positions available are traffic control, crossing guards, coke sales, etc.

Your efforts will be rewarded with a crew t-shirt and one of the best parties you'll ever attend. The Seafood Festival Committee goes "all out" for their volunteers with an extravagant buffet held at the Ashworth by the Sea. The evening also includes a live band and dozens of door prizes including round trip airline tickets from Southwest Airlines. So what are you waiting for? Join your friends and neighbors by calling the Hampton Beach Seafood Festival Hotline at 603-926-8718 ext. 104 or go online and register now at www.hamptonbeachseafoodfestival.com. Hey, it's a win-win situation, you'll have a great time doing good at the mother of all street festivals, and we'll make sure you have another great time at the volunteer party to be held on September 13th.

Photo ID: The Carey & Giampa Real Estate team gathered recently to kick off a second year as the Presenting Sponsor for the 18th Annual Hampton Beach Seafood Festival, to be held Friday, Saturday, and Sunday September 7, 8, and 9.
"We are delighted that one of our valued members, and a company with such an outstanding presence in the community, would have stepped up again to sponsor the Seafood Festival," David said. "It shows the respect and popularity the event has garnered over the years." Speaking for Carey & Giampa, Jim Giampa said, "We are proud to support the Hampton community again this year. The event continues to be the hallmark of the year for Hampton, and it's a pleasure to be part of it." The Hampton Beach Seafood Festival is a giant street fair on closed-to-traffic Ocean Boulevard. It features over 50 restaurants cooking an incredible array of seafood and non-seafood delicacies under a sea of tents. There is continuous entertainment on two stages, scores of crafts, displays, culinary demonstrations, and a children's entertainment area. HAMPTON BEACH SEAFOOD FESTIVAL HONORED AS ONE OF AMERICAN BUS ASSOCIATION'S "TOP 100 EVENTS IN NORTH AMERICA" FOR 2008" The Hampton Beach Seafood Festival has recently been selected by the American Bus Association as one of the "Top 100 Events in North America". ABA's Top 100 Events in North America is an annual compendium of the best events for group travel in the United States and Canada. Each spring, a committee of ABA-member motorcoach and tour operators selects the Top 100 Events for the subsequent year; the list is un-veiled in September. Winners are chosen from hundreds of celebrations, festivals, fairs, commemorative events, and more that have been nominated by state tourism offices and local and regional convention and visitors bureaus. From among the winners, ABA names the Number One Event for both the United States and Canada.

The Seafood Festival has been awarded the "Top 100" designation four times in the past, in 1996, 2001, 2003, and 2006. Being on the list brings an obvious boost in tour-ism in the area by increasing the exposure of the event as a designation for bus tours during the Festival. Held each year on the weekend after Labor Day, the three day Hampton Beach Seafood Festival draws crowds of tourists and locals alike, extending the summer season for area businesses. Over 50 restaurants offer a wide variety of seafood and non-seafood items; there is continuous entertainment on two stages; spec-tacular fireworks; a Kiddie Land for the kids; sky diving extravaganza; culinary chef demonstrations; craft vendors; and much more.

In 2007, the Festival will be held on September 7, 8, and 9. Visit the Festivalšs website www.hamptonchamber.com/seafoodfestival/ for information on times, entertainment, participating restaurants, and parking and shuttle information.
